Position Overview
Reporting to the Human Resources Department and Culinary Department, you will work in our employee dining room. You will use your exceptional food safety and hygiene knowledge while assisting with the day‐to‐day running of the dining room, including maintenance, cleanliness, ordering and equipment temperature checks.
Key Responsibilities
* Following the canteen checklist provided at the start of your employment, perform a variety of catering and cleaning activities to ensure the effective operation of the kitchen/canteen.
* Opening duties include setting up the canteen for the day's operations and ensuring all stations are ready for service.
* Provide quality canteen and catering customer service, including some food production and preparation duties, counter service, clearing tables, and cleaning duties.
* Replenish napkins, sugar, coffee, tea, and cutlery available for guests throughout the day.
* Wash and polish canteen equipment like plates, cutlery, and cups for guests throughout the day.
* Ensure cleanliness of the canteen in general, including cleaning all countertops, the stewarding area, the floor, fridges or chillers, tables, and chairs.
* Closing duties include cleaning, clearing bins, replenishing bin liners, and securing food items and equipment.
* Maintain a clean, hygienic environment for the preparation, storage, and safe handling of food.
* Follow procedures regarding food preparation and adhere to daily menu plans.
* Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef to ensure optimum services.
* Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.
* Monitor the quantity of food that is prepared and the portions that are served.
* Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacle.
* Set‐up, clean and break down workstation.
* Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing.
* Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables. Prepare and cook food.
* Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
* Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
