About The Aboriginal Community Development Worker Role

An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is sought for this role by Your Community Health as a special measure pursuant to Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Join YourCH for a culturally grounded, community‐centred role, focused on strengthening trust, connection and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This role supports First Nations voices, builds respectful partnerships and fosters inclusive, safe spaces that encourage holistic wellbeing. Reporting to the Aboriginal Health Manager, this is an ongoing part‐time role (0.6 FTE). Offices located in the Northern Suburbs.

Your Passion and Commitment will see you:

* Support access to culturally safe health care for First Nations clients
* Consult community to shape culturally led program delivery
* Plan and deliver health education and service promotion
* Drive growth and ongoing delivery of Aboriginal Health Program
* Represent YourCH at local networks and stakeholder forums

To succeed in this role you will have:

* Relevant experience and/or qualifications such as Aboriginal Health Worker, Certificate III in Mental Health, Certificate IV in Community Services, or the willingness to work towards one or more of these qualifications
* Proven culturally safe practice with First Nations communities
* Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programmes
* Understanding of community strengths and health challenges
* Knowledge of primary care systems and referral pathways
