Production Equipment Operator Role

This critical role involves ensuring that production processes are carried out safely and effectively, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.

The Production Equipment Operator will be responsible for executing processes, operating equipment, and maintaining accurate records. They will also lead a team to execute projects, ensuring they are completed safely, meeting quality specifications, and within budget.

Main Responsibilities:

* Carry out assigned process activities safely and efficiently in accordance with SOPs and GMP standards.
* Maintain knowledge of plant safety and fire prevention protocols during each process execution.
* Run simple, medium, and complex processes under general supervision, providing accurate calculations of weight, volume, and concentrations.
* Lead a team to execute projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and within budget constraints.
* Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained, and communicate with company leaders as required.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including cleanup of spills from processes.
* Work effectively with others as a team, promoting positive and productive work relationships within the department and company.
* Train operators in understanding and troubleshooting all equipment and processes.
* Coach and develop a competent and motivated team.

Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

* Reliability and professionalism.
* Technical/mechanical aptitude.
* Knowledge of plant safety, fire prevention, and lockout systems.
* Safety-conscious individual.
* Ability to maintain several flows of product simultaneously while processing.
* Team player with excellent communication skills.
* Positive work attitude, showing initiative, and ability to work independently.
* Ability to operate in a stressful environment while remaining calm and assessing requirements.
* Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google equivalents.
* Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
* Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
* Familiarity with plant systems and ability to assess operator strengths and areas for improvement.

Education and Experience:

* Demonstrable mathematical skills and science comprehension.
* Diploma or certificate in a related field is an asset.
* Experience in related fields is desirable.
* Previous forklift operations experience and/or certification.
* Smart Serve, WHMIS, First Aid certifications.

Working Conditions:

* Physical demands: lifting up to 20 Kg, extensive walking on cement, standing, crouching, and bending.
* Able to work a flexible/rotating schedule, including weekend shifts, ten and twelve-hour shifts as needed.
* Working with cleaning chemicals, flammables, hazardous wastes, dust, fumes, acids, and caustics, hot materials, steam, and wet environments.

Performance Measurements:

* Maintain knowledge in all applicable SOP tests and practical examinations.
* Ability to efficiently operate and troubleshoot processing equipment.
* Junior operators receive good reviews on their operating skills.
* Ability to complete tasks on schedule and within deadlines.
