Financial Accountant Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for managing financial accounting, reporting, and internal control environments.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing the financial accounting, reporting, and internal control environment for the South East Wales Corporate Joint Committee.
* Supporting the wider finance team and stakeholders in all accounting and reporting requirements.
* Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all general ledger transactions processed via the accounting system.
* Leading on the Management Accounting arrangements for specific projects, providing timely financial advice and support to project managers.
You will have a strong understanding of financial accounting, reporting, and internal control environments, with experience in budget setting and financial planning processes. You will also have proficiency in preparing financial statements and supporting external audits.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant field, such as accounting or finance, and be a member of a recognized accounting body, such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
You will have a strong understanding of financial regulations and standards, including UK GAAP and IFRS.
Able to provide excellent technical guidance and support to colleagues and management, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is provided to stakeholders.
Familiarity with financial software systems and tools, including Excel and financial analysis packages.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and external stakeholders.
