Overview
East Maitland, NSW (Hybrid). Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team and help shape and optimise our enterprise technology environment. This is a hands-on, senior technical role focused on designing, building and continuously improving Microsoft cloud and network infrastructure to support a national healthcare organisation undergoing transformation. You'll work closely with the Head of Cyber Security & Enterprise Infrastructure to deliver scalable, secure and high-performing solutions across Azure, virtual environments, endpoints, and networking with a strong emphasis on automation and modern best practices.
Responsibilities
* Cloud & Azure Infrastructure: Manage and optimise Azure services including subscriptions, policies and access controls.
* Identity & Access: Administer Microsoft Entra ID and identity governance in a hybrid environment; design secure access frameworks in partnership with cyber security.
* Virtual Desktop & Compute: Manage AVD environments including host pools, session hosts and performance; oversee VM lifecycle including scaling, patching and image management.
* Endpoint & Device Management: Manage MDM environments across Windows and mobile devices; automate device provisioning and enrolment.
* Networking & Connectivity: Support SD-WAN environments and site connectivity across national locations; contribute to "site-in-a-box" deployments for new and existing centres; maintain secure, zero-trust aligned network configurations.
* Automation & Continuous Improvement: Build PowerShell scripts to automate infrastructure and reporting; contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices (Bicep, ARM templates); identify opportunities to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
Qualifications & Experience
* 10+ years' experience in infrastructure engineering, with strong Azure expertise.
* Proven experience with Microsoft Entra ID, AVD, MDM/RMM and cloud platforms.
* Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capability.
* Experience working with enterprise networking or SD-WAN environments.
* A security-first mindset with exposure to identity-driven and zero-trust frameworks.
Nice to have
* Experience with IaC tools (Bicep, ARM).
* Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-140).
* Exposure to PKI / certificate-based authentication.
