Working in and for local communities – including many regional locations – QBuild is committed to safe workplaces, sustainable practices and supporting local jobs and apprenticeships within Queensland's $59 billion building and construction sector. Employees benefit from the stability of the public sector, structured career pathways and a strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing.
The Opportunity
As the Procurement Support Officer, you will provide purchasing, procurement, administrative and contract management support to QBuild members, customers and stakeholders. This is a hands‑on, varied role where you will be at the centre of day‑to‑day purchasing activity, helping to keep regional delivery programmes running smoothly and compliantly.
Working as part of a supportive team, you will assist with the development and maintenance of procurement instructions, procedures and templates, process a range of orders for goods and services and contribute to procurement projects and training activities across the business. Your attention to detail and commitment to good governance will help QBuild deliver safe, value‑for‑money outcomes for Queensland communities.
In this role, you will:
* Support purchasing and contract management activities across QBuild's regional delivery operations;
* Develop, update and maintain procurement instructions, procedures, guidelines and standard forms, including document control in conjunction with Quality Assurance;
* Process a range of purchase orders, work orders, field release orders and similar documentation for goods and services;
* Assist with procurement‑related projects, including research, analysis of alternative strategies and the preparation of reports; and
* Support the development and delivery of procurement training and induction programmes, including training materials, contractor meetings and session coordination.
Required Experience
You will be an organised and detail‑focused administrator with experience in procurement, purchasing or contract support, ideally gained within a government, construction, infrastructure or similar environment. You will be comfortable working with systems and processes, have a strong customer service ethic, and enjoy supporting others to deliver outcomes in a busy operational setting.
To be successful, you will bring:
* Experience in purchasing, procurement administration or contract support, including processing orders and maintaining accurate records;
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions, procedures and guidelines precisely;
* Confidence using computerised systems and the Microsoft Office suite to prepare documents, reports and simple analyses;
* Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and helpful approach to internal and external stakeholders; and
* A current clean driver's licence and the ability to work onsite as part of a collaborative team.
This is an excellent opportunity to build your procurement career within a large, long‑standing Queensland Government business unit delivering real outcomes for local communities. In addition to an attractive hourly rate of $50.37 per hour + superannuation, you will enjoy the benefits of public sector stability, structured working hours, comprehensive workplace health and safety support, and exposure to a diverse portfolio of building and maintenance projects. For the right candidate, there will be opportunities to broaden your skills in procurement, contract management and project support, opening pathways to future progression within QBuild and the wider Queensland Government.
