Join Our Casual Support Worker Pool – Flexible Shifts with Room to Grow

Looking for flexible work where you can make a genuine impact in your community? Open Minds Townsville is building a casual pool of passionate Support Workers to help cover shifts for planned leave, unplanned absences, and short-term support needs. With opportunities to step into a variety of shifts – including community access, Supported Independent Living (SIL), and in-home support. You'll gain valuable experience and contribute meaningfully to the lives of people living with mental health challenges and disabilities.

As our client base continues to grow, there's potential for these casual opportunities to evolve into more regular and stable hours.

About the role
You'll deliver meaningful, person-centred support by assisting with daily living tasks, encouraging independence, and empowering clients to lead fulfilling lives through social connection and personalised care.

Key responsibilities:

* Provide hands-on support with everyday tasks
* Build trusting, positive relationships with clients
* Encourage independence, confidence, and community participation
* Follow individual support plans and maintain accurate documentation
* Work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends and sleepover shifts


What we're looking for:

* Experience supporting people with mental health challenges or disabilities
* A friendly, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
* Availability to work across a 24/7 roster (casual shifts as needed)
* Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (desirable)
* Manual handling training (desirable)

Requirements

* Valid drivers licence (open)
* NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (yellow card)
* QLD blue card (working with children check)
