Oakey State High School is a vibrant and inclusive learning community. The Department of Education recognises the complexities young people face and is committed to creating the right conditions for their success.
Young people are smart, creative, and full of potential, constantly adapting to an ever-changing global world.
As the Youth Support Coordinator, your responsibilities will include interagency collaboration, identification of students at risk of disengaging, case management, development of lunchtime programs, and participation in Student Support and Wellbeing Teams.
Students encounter barriers that impact their ability to succeed, including challenges arising at any stage of secondary education. Timely, skilled intervention can support many students to re-engage and achieve their goals.
This role fosters meaningful participation in school life and learning by implementing proactive, student-centred strategies.
You will play a vital role in improving our response to early warning signs of disengagement and ensuring our school provides the supportive and flexible learning environment young people need to remain engaged and thrive.
Engagement with the education system from early childhood through to young adulthood is closely linked to positive life outcomes, including improved employment opportunities, better health, and stronger community participation.
