* Manage risks, dependencies and project governance effectively

About The Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Senior IT Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex, enterprise-wide IT initiatives that directly support the University's strategic priorities. This role requires a highly capable Project Manager who can not only deliver projects successfully but also drive meaningful organisational change through strong stakeholder engagement and communication.

In this position, you will plan, execute and oversee projects, ensuring they are delivered within scope, on time and within budget, while proactively managing risk and dependencies. A key focus of the role will be leading and embedding change, ensuring stakeholders are supported, informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle, and that outcomes are successfully adopted into business‐as‐usual operations.

In the first 12 months, you will lead two significant initiatives: the cloud migration of the University's finance system and the implementation of a new identity and access management solution. Both programs will require exceptional change management capability, including the ability to navigate complexity, influence across diverse stakeholder groups, and drive adoption at scale. Beyond this phase, you will manage an evolving portfolio of projects aligned to digital transformation, service improvement and operational efficiency.

Working closely with ITS teams, senior leaders, executive stakeholders and external vendors, you will demonstrate highly developed communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling messages. You will confidently engage at executive level, building trust, influencing decision‐making and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.

What's Required

* Relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, business, project management, or a related discipline, or equivalent extensive experience delivering complex projects in large organisations.
* Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a proven ability to work effectively across cross‐functional teams to achieve alignment and successful project outcomes.
* Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders, including professional staff, academic leaders, and students.
* Outstanding planning, organisational, and prioritisation skills, with experience allocating resources, managing multiple concurrent work streams, and meeting deadlines in a large, complex organisation.
* Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to connect multiple work streams into coherent, improved processes and solutions.
* Ability to interpret and use qualitative and quantitative data, translating insights into informed solutions and leveraging data to guide decisions and measure project outcomes.
* Demonstrated experience in change management, including stakeholder engagement, communication, and adoption of new systems or ways of working.
* Proven capability in influencing senior stakeholders and guiding decision‐making, including executives, academic leaders, and professional staff.
* Experience translating business needs into clear project scope, requirements, and actionable deliverables, with strong business analysis skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying policies and procedures, translating them into system processes, and influencing work practices.
* Proven ability to manage strategically and provide authoritative advice at a senior level, balancing operational requirements with strategic priorities.

Qualifications And Licences

* Relevant professional certifications in project management (e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, Agile) and/or formal training in change management (e.g. Prosci) or business analysis, highly desired but not essential for this role.

Salary details

* Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $160,612, comprising base salary within the range of $130,242 to $137,276 plus 17% superannuation.

Applications close Sunday 17th of May 11.55pm Australian Eastern Standard Time.

To be eligible for this position, you are required to have Australian citizenship, permanent residence or a current valid visa that allows you to fulfill the requirements of this role.

As part of our commitment to a safe and inclusive workplace, employment history and police background checks may be conducted as part of the selection process.
