Senior Accounting Manager – Homemakers Furniture Buying Group

Based in Melbourne, Victoria
9:00am–5:00pm, two or three days per week
Role Overview
As Senior Accounting Manager, you'll oversee financial accounting, reporting, compliance, and control functions for Homemakers Furniture Buying Group. In addition, you will coordinate office operations and IT systems to ensure organizational efficiency—acting as the key financial steward and operational supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate monthly and annual management financial statements
Track and analyse revenue, expenses, trends, cash flow, and budget variances
Provide recommendations on financial and operational performance
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Monitor budget adherence and suggest course corrections
Compliance & Regulations
Oversee lodgment and reconciliation of WorkCover, Payroll Tax, BAS, and FBT returns
Ensure compliance with ASIC requirements, manage PPSR and trademark registrations
Coordinate annual financial audits and prepare audit documentation
Accounts Management
Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
Authorize local and overseas supplier payments and improve AP/AR processes
Operational Oversight
Manage insurance (business risk, marine, motor vehicles), leases, stock take programs
Support office systems: hardware/software maintenance and coordination
Ensure IT operations meet company needs (e.g. TBS system)

Accountability
You will manage and coordinate with:
External auditors
Internal and external stakeholders on compliance, budgeting, and reporting
Office IT, insurance, legal entities, stock control, licensing agreements, and service providers
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting
Proven track record of managing AP/AR, tax lodgements, budgets, audits, and compliance
Strong familiarity with ASIC compliance, PPSR, trademarks, insurance, leases, and office systems
