Job Description
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will:
Provide a full range of in-house legal services with emphasis on support to Sales and other stakeholders in our very diverse Lines of Business in Australia and New Zealand in their provision of cloud, software, hardware and services to both public and private sector customersAdvise and support Sales and other stakeholders on matters related to commercial contracts, dispute resolution and litigation, privacy, general legal compliance and Oracle policies, practices, and processesDraft, review, negotiate and provide legal advice on high volumes of public and private sector commercial contractsProvide mentoring and guidance on Oracle approvals, policies, processes, and compliance requirementsParticipate in ANZ Legal Department initiatives as required, and collaborate with legal colleagues throughout Oracle locally as well as internationallyConduct training for sales and legal staff, and other employees regarding commercial, compliance and other legal matters including Sales onboarding trainingAnticipate problems and initiate actions to ensure complex deals are handled efficiently

Law degree and current practising certificate to practise law in an Australian jurisdiction10+ years of experience as a legal practitionerExtensive experience with commercial negotiations, business dealings and IT contractingAbility to work well as part of a team and independentlyHigh level of legal drafting and negotiation skillsSolutions oriented approach to commercial and legal issues and assessment of riskAbility to manage multiple and sometimes competing prioritiesAbility to adapt to evolving requirementsAbility to quickly develop an understanding of applicable business requirements and policiesAbility to instill trust and confidence in others and be seen as a trusted and valued adviserDeep experience with Government contracting is highly desirable
Responsibilities
Responsible for providing legal advice to the organization. Close liaison to business in providing a variety of corporate and commercial legal services. Coordinates litigation and other legal, administrative or investigative actions handled by outside counsel. Draft, review, and negotiate major and/or non-standard technology contracts with public and private sector customers, including licensing agreements, professional services agreements, and cloud services agreements. Advise on legal issues involving government and regulatory compliance. Respond to ad hoc queries to include identification, analysis, and evaluation of risks in order to provide appropriate legal solutions. Work closely with other lawyers throughout Oracle and coordinate legal matters handled by outside lawyers. Demonstrate deep general commercial or functional knowledge across a wide range of sub disciplines within the individual's specialty area(s), (e.g., general corporate law, antitrust/competition law, cloud transactions, data privacy, risk management, intellectual property regulations applicable to IT vendors)
