POSITION SUMMARY
FMR Investments is seeking an experienced residential Jumbo Operator based at our Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine approximately 55km north-east of Kalgoorlie (NO FIFO). The position operates on a 6:1, 6:8 roster, rotating between 10.5hr day and night shifts.
ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Jumbo Operator at our Underground Gold Mine in Western Australia, you'll play a critical role in advancing underground development by safely and accurately drilling headings, installing ground support and ensuring all work meets strict safety and productivity standards. This role demands strong technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment while collaborating closely with the production team.
key responsibilities
* Conduct pre-starts, safety checks and daily documentation
* Operate twin-boom jumbos to drill development headings to design
* Mark up and align drill patterns for accuracy and minimal overbreak
* Install mesh and ground support (bolts, split sets, resin anchors)
* Scale faces and walls using boom or hand tools
* Replace drill steels and conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance
* Coordinate with surveyors, engineers and crew to meet shift targets
* Maintain safe work areas, service positioning, ventilation and water control

* Twin-boom jumbo drill rigs (Sandvik DD421 & Sandvik DD420)
* Hydraulic ground support tools and scaling bars
* Survey lasers and alignment systems
* Drilling control and monitoring systems
* Underground communication systems

KEY REQUIREMENTS
Essential
* Reside locally in the Goldfields region (no FIFO).
* Manual C Class Driver's Licence
* A can-do, team-oriented attitude, solid problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to think on your feet and be adaptable.
* Proven experience operating jumbo drill rigs in an underground mining environment
* Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications
* Physically fit and able to work in demanding underground conditions
Desirable
* Shotfirer's Licence and DGSC
* High Risk Work Licences (forklift, EWP)
* Supervisory training or experience
* First Aid Certification
