About the Role
This newly created Assistant Category Manager role offers the chance to work within a high-performing commercial team, supporting on two of Australia's largest retail customers while taking ownership of key strategic channels. Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, you'll:
* Support category planning and execution for Coles and Woolworths, assisting with range reviews, promotional planning, and insight-led recommendations.
* Own the Independent Grocery and New Zealand channels from a category perspective, driving tailored strategies to unlock growth opportunities.
* Translate shopper and market insights into actionable category plans that enhance visibility and performance across key categories.
* Partner closely with sales, marketing, and supply teams to deliver compelling, data-backed solutions that strengthen customer relationships.
This role suits someone commercially savvy, data-driven, and eager to deepen their category expertise in a supportive, well-established global business.
Skills & Experience Required
We're looking for someone who brings:
* Experience in a category, commercial, or analytical role within FMCG (exposure to grocery retail preferred).
* Strong skills in data interpretation and storytelling, with confidence using IRI, Nielsen, or Quantium data.
* The ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate effectively, and communicate insights in a clear and engaging way.
* A proactive mindset with curiosity for consumer trends and a genuine passion for food.
