Cougar is a dynamic and fast-paced company with 500 employees across their NSW & QLD operations. As a leader in the underground mining industry, they are poised to embark upon an exciting phase of evolution, due to internal promotion they have an opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join their team based in Tomago.
As the Purchasing Manager, you will manage a team responsible for day-to-day purchasing activities, manage data-driven insights to enhance decision-making, and collaborate closely with suppliers & internal departments to support production goals.
YOUR NEW ROLE....
* Analyse data related to supplier performance, market trends, and purchasing patterns to make informed decisions.
* Manage a team of purchasing professionals
* Write policies and procedures for the purchasing team
* Work closely with the Supply Chain, Inventory and Warehouse Manager to develop and execute purchasing strategies
* Liaise with cross functional departments for project kick offs and attend production meetings to ensure material availability and resolve any conflicts
* Manage supplier relationships & initiatives, negotiating contracts and maintaining strategic partnerships with key vendors to ensure consistent quality, cost savings, and on-time delivery
* Assist with day to day Purchasing activities & approve purchase orders.
YOU....
* Proven experience in purchasing management within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
* Excellent analytical abilities and proficiency in using data-driven insights to drive decision-making.
* In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Ideally you have come across PowerBI and understand the power of the data it holds.
