Parkville College is a multi‑campus school that delivers education at Cherry Creek and Parkville Youth Justice Precincts, and Secure Care Units. The college offers Victorian Curriculum (Foundation‑10), Senior Secondary Certificates (VCE, VM, and VPC) and vocational studies, including Music Industry.
Overview
Teachers are required to be adaptable and adaptable, including working on units when classrooms are unavailable, supporting delivery across multiple units and engaging in outreach. The role focuses on planning, preparation and teaching programmes to achieve student outcomes, with critical reflection to improve practice.
Role Description
The classroom teacher classification has two salary ranges: Range 1 and Range 2. Responsibilities increase with experience, including mentoring, policy development, and use of student data. Range 2 teachers have greater responsibility for student outcomes and professional learning.
Responsibilities
- Direct teaching of student groups and individual students.
- Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other programme within the school.
- Undertaking additional classroom‑teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.
- Participating in parent‑teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
- Undertaking other non‑teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Registered or eligible teachers with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, qualified to teach Music or other specified curriculum areas.
Qualification Requirements
- Current, valid Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Permission To Teach registration.
- Minimum Certificate II Music Industry qualification.
- Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
- Completion of an Australian postgraduate‑level initial teaching programme on or after 1 January 2024, or, for those completing a Victorian ITE after 1 July 2016, demonstration of LANTITE completion.
