The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the organisation. This senior leadership role oversees strategy, operations, financial performance, people and culture, and stakeholder relationships.
This is a hands-on executive position suited to a commercially astute leader with strong experience in construction, manufacturing, operations management, and strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and execute business plans to achieve growth, profitability, and sustainability
* Lead and develop the senior management team across building, production, and project management
* Drive operational excellence across construction, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, and inventory
* Monitor and report on KPIs including quality, safety, cost, service, and delivery performance
* Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and P&L management
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities and revenue streams
* Ensure compliance with governance, risk management, and workplace health and safety systems
* Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies
* Promote a high-performance, values-driven workplace culture aligned with continuous improvement
Skills & Experience
To be successful, you will bring:
* Senior management or General Manager experience within construction, manufacturing, or building environments
* Strong background in operations management, strategic planning, and business leadership
* Proven financial management skills including budgets, forecasts, and profit & loss accountability
* Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
* Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills
* Tertiary qualifications in Business, Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
* Advanced computer skills (Excel and business management systems)
* Valid driver's licenceExperience working in a family-owned or SME environment will be highly regarded.
