CATERING ASSISTANT
YOUR PURPOSE
You are part of a dynamic Hospitality Team that is committed to quality, safety, and customer service excellence.
You support the Chef Manager and Cook in the preparation and service of high-quality food offerings for Village residents and families, and for customers of the Village Café and Trattoria. You work flexibly to assist across a varied catering function, which may include back-of-house food preparation and/or front-of-house food service, as well as a full range of cleaning duties.

YOUR ACTIVITIES
Person-Centred Care
* You connect with residents, families and visitors via their food experience.
* You assist with the preparation and service of high-quality food offerings that recognise the individual choices and preferences of residents.
* You support a full range of catering activities including but not limited to food preparation, basic cooking, food presentation and plating, and food delivery/service to resident dining areas and café as required.
* You provide exceptional service to all customers of the Café and Trattoria, ensuring that customers receive a warm welcome, individualised attention, and responsive service; you clear and reset the Café and Trattoria tables as required.
* You take pride in maintaining a professional standard of hygiene and cleanliness for all cooking and food service areas, including but not limited to the kitchen, benches, fridges/freezers, storerooms, floors, café and dining areas, bins/waste, and all cooking equipment, crockery, and cutlery.
Systems & Processes
* You work in accordance with the NSW Food Safety Act and HACCP Principles.
* You ensure that all temperature checks are taken and recorded as per the schedules.
* You assist with stock control, rotation of stock, and receipting deliveries.
* You participate in audits and continuous quality improvement processes.
* You adhere to manual handling procedures and safe use of all equipment; you report any safety issues or incidents.
* You follow established procedures for handling feedback or complaints from residents or families. Mandatory reporting applies to all allegations of elder abuse.
* You comply with all operational policies and procedures and applicable legislation.

YOUR PROFILE
* Previous experience in food preparation within a commercial kitchen, preferably in an aged care or health services environment
* Knowledge of the NSW Food Safety Act and HACCP Principles
* Knowledge of WHS and infection control principles
* Good communication skills and a strong commitment to customer service excellence
* Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
