This region is a major sector in agriculture and manufacturing, employing over 350 people directly and approximately 2,500 indirectly to support the local industry. Known for its beaches, rivers, fishing, and natural wonders, the area includes seven shires such as Tweed, Byron Bay, Ballina, and the Clarence Valley. Harwood is located on the Clarence River near the historic port town of Yamba.The role:The Fugal Station Operator is a vital member of the sugar production team at Harwood Sugar Mill.The operator is responsible for running centrifuge/separation machines and the sugar dying process in a food factory producing raw sugar. The equipment includes high-speed centrifuge machines, various pumps, a sugar drying plant, and other production machinery. The role involves working a 4 on 4 off continuous shift roster during the crushing season (mid-June to end of November). After the season, work hours revert to Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day (December to June).Reporting to the shift supervisor, the operator's duties include planning, prioritising, and monitoring the processes at the fugal station.The role emphasizes supporting a safety culture by actively participating in safety initiatives and identifying safety improvements. The operator will also support projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and eliminating unproductive practices.An attractive remuneration package, including 5 weeks of annual leave, is offered with the position.Full training will be provided.We are looking for:Previous experience managing process equipment in a food manufacturing environment is highly regarded.Mechanical aptitude.Strong reasoning skills for decision-making based on analysis and evaluation.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to monitor and control multiple processes simultaneously.Experience in risk assessments and supporting Work Health & Safety principles.Initiative and a demonstrated willingness to learn.Basic computer skills, including operating interfaces for process control.How to Apply:To be considered, please upload a cover letter outlining your suitability and a resume.
