The Laboratory Manager role plays a pivotal part in the everyday operations of the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain and improve the quality system to ensure excellence in laboratory procedures.
* Oversee and review quality control data on a routine basis to identify areas for improvement.
* Prepare corrective and preventative action reports for all matters related to the laboratory, and maintain accurate records for review.
* Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and develop appropriate plans to prevent future occurrences.
* Ensure technically correct analysis on a daily basis by addressing technical issues that arise from routine analysis.
* Collaborate with the Laboratory Director on complex issues and assure timely and accurate laboratory Certificates of Analysis are reported.
* Coordinate and schedule laboratory assignments to laboratory personnel, and perform analysis when necessary.
* Receive, compile, and verify data resulting from laboratory testing, documenting and maintaining accurate records for client quality control samples.
* Analyze and compile quality control sample results to ensure operating efficiency of processes and testing equipment.
* Communicate specifications, methods, and results to internal and external clients as needed.
* Provide training to laboratory personnel and serve as a liaison between laboratory personnel and the Laboratory Director and Operations teams.
* Manage laboratory equipment and supply inventory, coordinating replacement or repair of faulty equipment and supplies.
* Understand instrument calibrations and verifications, maintaining records as per schedule and ensuring all necessary laboratory calibrations are performed.
Requirements:
Minimum Position Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline and 2 years experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
* Associate's Degree in a technical discipline and 3 years of experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
* 5 years experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
* Demonstrate strong managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills
* Effective communication with employees, outside consultants, and management
* Petroleum Laboratory experience must include analytical testing, instrument maintenance, instrument calibrations, quality control systems/procedures, and training protocols
* Thorough understanding of industry-related safety and training
* Able to grasp new procedures quickly and implement them
