The Role
We are seeking an experienced Direct Care Worker Manager to lead, support, and engage our Direct Care workforce. This role is responsible for workforce engagement, performance management, compliance, and professional development, ensuring our care workers are well-supported and equipped to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
Acting as the key liaison between Direct Care Workers, Support at Home leadership, HR, and Payroll, you will play a critical role in improving workforce satisfaction, retention, compliance, and service delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Workforce Engagement & Welfare
* Conduct quarterly welfare checks with Direct Care Workers and maintain accurate file notes
* Design and implement workforce engagement initiatives to improve satisfaction and retention
* Act as the primary point of contact for Direct Care Workers regarding shifts, applications, and workplace matters
* Facilitate feedback, surveys, and engagement activities to support a positive employee experience
Compliance & Quality Assurance
* Conduct fortnightly audits of care shifts, including presentation and dress code compliance
* Maintain compliance registers, ensuring police checks, mandatory training, and records are current
* Ensure staff uniforms, identification badges, and PPE are supplied and maintained
* Support the delivery of on-site training and compliance requirements
Leadership & Performance Management
* Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise Direct Care Workers
* Provide coaching, guidance, and leadership using a "leader as coach" approach
* Set, monitor, and review KPIs aligned with organisational objectives
* Conduct one-on-one meetings, annual performance reviews, and performance improvement plans
* Manage conflict-of-interest processes in line with policy
Training, Collaboration & Operations
* Identify training needs and support continuous learning initiatives
* Work closely with Support at Home leadership and HR to address workforce gaps by region and language needs
* Collaborate with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely payments
* Manage Direct Care Worker meetings, offboarding processes, and workforce utilisation
* Monitor and manage overutilisation in line with the SCHADS Award
About You
* Demonstrated experience managing frontline care workers in aged care, disability, or community services
* Strong understanding of workforce compliance, awards (SCHADS), and regulatory requirements
* Confident leader with a people-first, coaching-focused management style
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust across diverse teams
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment
