Role Description
This R&D Lead and Support role is a hybrid contract position based in the Greater Brisbane Area, with potential for full-time employment after a 12-month cliff.
The successful candidate will take a key role in coordinating ongoing research and development projects, including data analysis, sensor trials, and university-linked studies.
You will work directly with the founder and CTO-track leadership to design experiments, collect and interpret field data, and support the integration of AI-driven insights into real-world beekeeping and pollination systems.
This position requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and persistence — someone who doesn't give up easily and thrives in the dynamic pace of a startup.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and support R&D activities related to bee health and pollination systems
* Conduct data analysis, reporting, and field experiment coordination
* Collaborate with universities and research partners
* Manage follow-up of ongoing trials and technical documentation
* Contribute to algorithm and data model validation
* Participate in product testing and feedback loops with the engineering team
Qualifications
* Experience in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Data Science, or a related technical discipline
* Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
* Understanding of beekeeping, pollination, or agriculture systems highly preferred
* Proven persistence and ownership mindset suitable for a startup environment
* Ability to manage multiple R&D projects with accuracy and accountability
* Strong communication skills and cultural adaptability in multinational collaboration
* Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally overseas
* Multilingual ability is highly preferred
* Prior exposure to IoT, telemetry, or data platforms is a plus
