Not many people think about what it takes to get potatoes from the paddock onto supermarket shelves across Australia.
We do.
At The South Australian Potato Company, we grow, wash, grade, pack and supply thousands of tonnes of potatoes every year — and behind every conveyor, washer, grader, motor, pump and packing line is a maintenance team that keeps the whole operation moving.
We’re a proudly family-owned South Australian business built from the ground up, with over 20 years in the industry and a team that genuinely cares about producing quality food for Australian families.
Right now, we’re looking for either:
* a qualified Maintenance Fitter, or
* an Industrial Electrician with strong mechanical experience
to join our maintenance crew in the Adelaide Hills.
You’ll be the type of person who enjoys solving problems, improving machinery, fabricating parts when needed, and keeping a fast-moving production site operating at its best.
Some days you’ll be fault-finding on a packing line. Other days you’ll be rebuilding equipment, improving reliability, fabricating a new part, or helping production get back online when every minute counts.
If you like variety, autonomy, and practical hands-on work — you’ll fit in well here.
What You’ll Be Working On
Our operation covers everything from washing and grading through to weighing, conveying and packing machinery.
You’ll be involved in:
* Preventative and breakdown maintenance
* Fault finding and troubleshooting
* Conveyor systems and automated equipment
* Pumps, motors, gearboxes and drives
* Packing and weighing systems
* Fabrication and machinery improvements
* Continuous improvement projects
* Supporting production during busy periods
We’re not looking for someone who only changes bearings or resets overloads.
We want someone who can think critically, adapt, and take ownership of keeping the plant reliable and safe.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
* Trade qualification (Mechanical or Electrical)
* Industrial maintenance experience
* Strong fault-finding ability
* Good mechanical aptitude
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Forklift licence
* Current driver’s licence
* Willingness to work flexible hours when required
Highly Valued
* Food production or agricultural industry experience
* MIG/TIG welding and fabrication skills
* Experience in Lathe & Mill operations
* Electrical disconnect/reconnect or unrestricted electrical licence
* Experience with conveyors, graders, washers or packing lines
* Working at Heights / EWP / First Aid tickets
