Position Overview
Blue Sky Community Services is seeking two part‐time Support Workers to join our Families, Young People and Communities team within the Families Together programme, commencing 1 July 2026. One position is approximately 30 hours per fortnight and will be based in Nambucca Heads, and the other position is approximately 61 hours per fortnight and will be based in Coffs Harbour. The roles will work across the Bellingen, Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Heads Local Government Areas (LGAs). These positions are offered on a fixed‐term basis until 30 June 2031. The role requires willingness to travel within the region, participation in a 24/7 on‐call phone roster shared across the team with on‐call allowances paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award, and flexibility between the hours of 6am and 8pm on weekdays as needed to respond to the needs of families.
The Support Worker Will
* support children to remain safe at home with their families, helping prevent entry into Out of Home Care and further involvement with the child protection system
* work alongside the Family Practitioner to support families to engage with family action plans and case plans
* provide practical, hands‐on support to families, including transport, reminders, accompaniment to appointments, and assistance accessing services
* build trusting, respectful relationships with families to promote engagement, participation, and follow‐through on agreed goals
* support parents and caregivers to build capacity, including strengthening routines, communication, parenting skills, and daily functioning
* assist families to connect with local services and resources, including health, education, housing, and community programmes
* monitor family safety and wellbeing during contact, escalating concerns or emerging risks to the Family Practitioner in line with organisational procedures
* maintain accurate, timely documentation and case notes, contributing to service outcomes, reporting requirements and KPIs
Who We Are Looking For
* a relevant qualification in Community Services or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience delivering trauma‐informed, family‐centred support to vulnerable children and families
* a First Aid Certificate (or willingness to undertake training)
* a willingness to travel within the local area to support families
* the ability to consistently align behaviours, attitudes, and conduct with the organisation's values, culture, and Code of Conduct
* a general understanding (or willingness to learn) of Family Preservation systems and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ)
* a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
* the ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and proficiently use information and communication technology systems, including the Microsoft suite, client management systems, and databases
* the capability and willingness to confidently and accurately promote the Families Together program, including its goals, activities, processes, and functions
* a friendly, kind, and positive approach, with a strong can‐do attitude
* a desire not only to meet expectations, but to consistently exceed them
* highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to work efficiently and effectively
