This area offers urban and rural environments, excellent schools, universities, and a strong medical research community. You will work at John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH) and other regional hospitals part of the HNEkidshealth Network.
What You'll Be Doing
This position is for applicants seeking exposure to advanced paediatric surgical, neonatal, and paediatric urology to further a career as a paediatric surgeon or urologist. It includes an active role in various aspects of Paediatric General Surgery and Urology, Trauma (including burns), and other subspecialties, encompassing administrative, clinical, quality improvement, educational, and research activities. The responsibilities, determined by the Director of Paediatric Surgery and Trauma services, include clinical and non‑clinical activities.
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent; currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
* A minimum of 2 years of postgraduate experience, with commencement paediatric surgical experience desirable or evidence of pursuing one.
* Demonstrated ability to perform routine acute paediatric surgical procedures with minimum supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment, utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement, and expertise.
* Demonstrated effective teamwork, time management and problem‑solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary clinical care team.
* Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self‑education and teaching undergraduate and post‑graduates.
