PhD Position in Air-Sea Coupling
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to investigate the intricate relationship between the ocean and atmosphere. This PhD project aims to enhance our understanding of weather forecasting, particularly in predicting weather patterns a decade from now.
To achieve this goal, we will focus on understanding how small-scale interactions between the air and upper ocean impact the Earth's climate system. Our research will involve running state-of-the-art numerical models on high-performance computing systems and analyzing latest observational data of the atmosphere and ocean.
The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing novel numerical techniques to simulate complex atmospheric and oceanic processes. They will also work closely with our team to analyze and interpret results, identifying key insights that can improve weather forecasting accuracy.
This project offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills in computational modeling, data analysis, and scientific communication. As a member of our research team, you will have access to cutting-edge facilities and collaborate with leading experts in the field.
Key Requirements:
* PhD in Atmospheric Science, Oceanography, or related field
* Strong background in numerical modeling and data analysis
* Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python, Fortran, or C++
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
What We Offer:
* A dynamic and supportive research environment
* Access to state-of-the-art computing facilities and software
* Opportunities for professional development and career growth
