Job Description
As a seasoned engineering leader, we seek an exceptional professional to oversee the engineering function across brownfield modification and capital projects in Portland.
* The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multi-discipline engineering inputs, ensuring design integrity, constructability, and alignment with client specifications and operational requirements.
* They will bridge project execution and design, working closely with construction, commissioning, QA/QC, and client engineering teams to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes in a live plant environment.
The Role
This position is pivotal in fostering collaboration between project execution and design teams, facilitating the delivery of complex engineering projects.
* The engineer will manage all engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and structural disciplines.
* They will oversee the development, review, and approval of design deliverables, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
* The successful candidate must ensure compliance with Australian Standards, Client requirements, and applicable statutory regulations.
* They will lead constructability and design risk reviews in collaboration with project and site teams.
* Interface with project managers, planners, supervisors, and contractors during execution phases.
* Provide engineering input during planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
* Manage design change control and technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
* Mentor and support engineering team members and junior technical staff.
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with:
* 10+ years' experience in heavy industrial or brownfield project environments.
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or equivalent) – RPEQ or CPEng (preferred).
* Strong understanding of multi-discipline engineering across SMP and E&I scopes.
* Proven track record delivering engineering solutions in operational plant settings.
* Experience working under EPC, panel, or brownfield modification contracts.
* Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
* Must be available to work onsite in Portland, Victoria.
