The opportunity
The City Parks Assets team is looking for an experienced Team Leader to lead the garden maintenance of the Lakes Memorial Park Public Cemetery and Mandurah Public Cemetery.
This role plays a vital part in ensuring our cemeteries, memorial areas and related public assets are maintained to a high standard, providing safe, respectful and welcoming environments for our community.
About the role
As the Team Leader, you will:
* Maintain the Lakes Memorial Park Public Cemetery and Mandurah Public Cemetery to a high operational, safety and aesthetic standard.
* Prepare, dig and close gravesites safely and efficiently (including ground and wall niches, interments and exhumations).
* Undertake lawn, garden and general grounds maintenance.
* Maintain and repair cemetery reticulation systems.
* Conduct routine inspections and complete operator maintenance on plant and equipment.
* Deliver quality customer service to funeral directors, contractors, members of the public and internal stakeholders.
* Ensure adherence to Work Health and Safety requirements, City policies and workplace procedures.
* Oversee minor project works and provide guidance and on-the-job training to others when required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Certificate III or IV in Horticulture or Turf Management or equivalent
* Current unrestricted MR (Medium Rigid) class national driver’s licence
* Current certificate in Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller
* Current White Card
* Experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, landscaping, or similar environments
* Experience working in a cemetery environment
* Previous supervisory experience in a similar role
* Ability to safely operate small plant and equipment (eg mowers, backhoe, tools and machinery)
* Experience in maintaining and installing reticulation systems
* Ability to complete safety inspections and apply relevant standards
* Experience working in environments requiring high attention to detail, sensitivity and discretion
* Basic competency with mobile technology and Microsoft tools
