* Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10, $ 129,464 - $142,665 per annum + superannuation

Your role

Homes NSW is a division of the Department of Communities and Justice. It brings together the housing and homelessness functions of the Department of Communities and Justice, the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, Aboriginal Housing Office and key worker housing functions from across government all under one roof.

Homes NSW leads work to deliver more social and affordable housing, end the cycle of homelessness, and deliver quality public housing to our 262,000 tenants across NSW.

Senior safety officer provides high quality Work Health and Safety (WHS) guidance, support and advice to the Housing Portfolio, Delivery division, HOMES NSW with a whole-of-lifecycle approach to WHS applied to redevelopment projects across various project types within Housing Portfolio's Social Housing programs.

What you'll do

* Lead the implementation of the Housing Portfolio's WH&S management system, and provide advice and assistance to Housing Portfolio's delivery for effective WHS risk management, including hazard identification, risk assessment and controls and the implementation of safe systems of work.
* Lead the development and maintenance of an exemplary safety culture within the business unit by conducting WHS workshops and start‐up meetings with internal WHS & Risk meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Proactively monitor legislation and regulations and recommend appropriate improvements to Housing Portfolio's delivery processes, WHS risk register and WHS management system to facilitate compliance with Housing Portfolio's objectives.
* Conduct and/or facilitate regular audits of construction activities and document corrective measures for WHS processes and recommend improvement strategies.
* Support delivery teams in reporting of WHS incidents, hazards and near misses including the close out of corrective actions or improvement notices and providing assistance and/or investigation (where needed).
* Establish and maintain sound relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes in relation to WH&S and ensure that WH&S risk-based activities are appropriately considered and managed at design inputs and construction phases of the project's life cycle.

What we're looking for

* Tertiary qualifications in WHS or equivalent extensive WHS experience.
* Current Construction industry white card induction.
* Current NSW class C driver's licence.
* Cert IV in Training and Education.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Construction WHS, with an understanding of appropriate BCA standards, current WHS legislation and NSW Government construction procurement policy requirements.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience ISO Quality, Safety and Environmental management system requirements.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of GC21 & MW21 Contracts and NSW Procurement Policy Framework requirements in Construction projects.
* Proficient with MS Suite of computer software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
