The Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy (CYAAA) is a partnership between the Queensland Department of Education and Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA), delivering a Direct Instruction and explicit teaching model that provides a structured and evidence-based approach to ensure high-quality learning outcomes for all students. The academy's vision is for students to achieve their full potential, talent, and creativity, while gaining the confidence and capacity for hard work that allows them to navigate between two worlds and enjoy the best of both. The education model focuses on the child with the belief that successful outcomes are achievable for every student, emphasising two priority areas: effective teaching through quality programs, supported by professional learning and continuous school improvement, and the social and emotional wellbeing of students via the evidence-based Every Child is Special program, which fosters strong family and community engagement.

About The Role

As Head of Department (Curriculum), you will have access to the Mastery Teaching Pathway (MTP), a unique professional learning platform that strengthens your leadership and instructional practice. As Head of Department (Curriculum), you will engage in certified school improvement training and coaching aligned with the AITSL leadership and teaching standards, enhancing your ability to drive meaningful change. As Head of Department (Curriculum), you will develop and apply high-impact teaching and coaching strategies across any pedagogy, curriculum, or educational program in Australian classrooms. As Head of Department (Curriculum), you will work under the direction of the Head of Campus or CYAAA Principal, playing a key role in improving teaching quality and lifting student outcomes.

Your Responsibilities

As the Head of Department (Curriculum), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
