* We are seeking a Senior Code, Performance and Rehabilitation Advisor to join our Corporate Service Division in Canberra.
About the Opportunity
This role reports to the Team Leader, Code and Performance, under the guidance of the Section Manager People, Policy, Performance, WHS and Workplace Relations.
The Senior Code, Performance and Rehabilitation Advisor provides expert advice, guidance and support to managers and employees on complex performance and rehabilitation management, workplace behaviours, and conduct issues. This role involves managing sensitive cases, applying CASA's employment framework and related directives and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislative and procedural requirements.
This role is also responsible for contributing to the development and continuous improvement of our procedures and practices, and ensuring that these are compliant with legislative, regulatory, and public sector requirements.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:
* In-depth knowledge and practical experience in interpreting and applying relevant employment legislation, CASA directives, APS Code of Conduct, and internal HR procedures in a regulatory or government context.
* Proven ability to lead or manage performance and conduct matters, including the delivery of investigations aligned with procedural fairness, making evidence-based decisions in sensitive or high-risk cases.
* Extensive experience in complex case management, including managing employee grievances, disputes, and rehabilitation cases, with a focus on early resolution and compliance.
* Exceptional judgement, discretion and confidentiality, with a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential employment matters ethically and professionally.
* Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities, with a track record of delivering practical, compliant, and sustainable solutions to workplace issues.
* Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-reasoned advice and reports, and present confidently to senior stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders, including facilitating sensitive discussions, negotiating outcomes, and maintaining productive relationships across all organisational levels.
* Strong organisational and planning skills, including the ability to independently manage workload, meet tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced and high-volume team environment.
* Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach, contributing to team goals, adapting to evolving priorities, and consistently producing work that requires minimal revision or oversight.
* Tertiary qualifications or formal accreditation in industrial relations, employment law, human resource management, investigations, or business management, demonstrating a strong foundation for managing complex employment matters would be highly regarded.
