An opportunity based in Karratha for 2 Part Time Aboriginal Safety Officers
RRKAC received funding from Department of Communities to provide a culturally secure Family and Domestic Violence prevention and early intervention program for Aboriginal parents with children aged 0-5 or expecting parents. This strengths-based initiative provides referrals, information, education and advocacy. Delivered in partnership with Pilbara Community Legal Service (PCLS) the program ensures community-led, culturally responsive support tailored to the needs of individuals, families and the community.
The role works with the PCLS-C-FDV, team and community members to build, strengthen, and maintain pathways that assist participants to connect to services to improve parenting skills, build parental capacity, encourage healthy connection and relationships withing families and community, identify and address issues around intergenerational trauma and it's effects on safety and stability.
The key responsibilities of this role will be;
* Work with the team to increase stakeholder and community understanding of the Strong Family Connections program, roles and activities.
* Help to plan and facilitate community engagement events, workshops and programs.
* Work with community members and families to engage with the Strong Family Connections program
* Work with the PCLS and RRKAC teams, to provide an integrated service delivery approach to members
* Provide cultural advice to assist in the engagement and deliver of the Strong Family Connections program
* Attend and participate in team and staff meetings, consultation and discussion.
* Contribute to the development/improvement of effective systems and practice that will better support and enable community members to access the resources available to them.
* Maintain a strong commitment to the principles that underpin the service model and ensure that members' experiences and expertise informs the refinement and continuous improvement of the program.

To be successful in this role you will have;
* Demonstrated experience in the community services sector and specifically working with at- risk young people.
* Experience working with young people who have experienced complex trauma.
* Demonstrate high regard for confidentiality.
* Experience working or training in delivering culturally appropriate and trauma informed best practise community services.
* Demonstrated ability to:
* Work effectively with and for Aboriginal people and especially at-risk youth.
* Model desired workplace behaviours
* Effectively resolve conflict.
* Hold a current National Police Check (or ability to obtain), Working with Children card (WWC), Valid Driving License, pass pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol test.
