The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced leader to guide the delivery of Noosa's major infrastructure, public realm and transport initiatives. Reporting to senior leadership, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for shaping the Shire's 10‑year capital works program and delivering high‑quality community outcomes.
Key Focus Areas
Infrastructure Planning
• Lead development of the 10‑year public realm capital works program
• Oversee funding submissions, project proposals and capital governance
• Chair the Project Control Group and Capital Works Executive
Public Realm Design
• Oversee design of buildings, parks, pathways, roads, bridges, foreshores and streetscapes
• Maintain design standards, policies and reporting frameworks
• Review external designs for alignment with Council requirements
Project Management
• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of capital projects from concept to post‑completion
• Develop project management frameworks, procedures and reporting structures
• Manage ongoing disaster reconstruction projects
Transport and Traffic
• Develop road network, active transport and public transport strategies
• Lead the Go Noosa sustainable transport program
• Manage traffic investigations and provide accurate community responses
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
• Represent Council at forums and community engagements
• Build strong relationships with government and key stakeholders
• Oversee effective engagement across branch programs
Leadership
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team
• Manage financial, human and physical resources
• Promote strong governance, risk management and organisational values
About You
• Significant experience in infrastructure planning, public realm design or civil project delivery
• Demonstrated leadership capability and team‑building skills
• Strong strategic planning, governance and stakeholder management expertise
• Excellent communication and representation skills
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Civil Design, Project Management or Traffic/Transport Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Eligibility for Engineers Australia or similar professional body
• Construction industry safety card (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
