About the Position

In association with Grand Pacific Health (GPH), Hunter Primary Care looking for a Peer Work Lead to support the establishment of the new Medicare Mental Health Centre in Central Coast.

Medicare Mental Health Centres provides high quality, evidence-based assessment, care coordination, information, support, and treatment to people experiencing psychological distress, their family, carers, and support networks. The service offers immediate, short to medium-term episodes of care and service navigation.

The Peer Work Lead provides leadership, mentoring and practice supervision to Peer Workers to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective peer support aligned with HPC peer work frameworks. The role supports and develops peer practice that is strengths-based, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented, promoting hope, resilience and lived-experience leadership. The Peer Work Lead also carries a small consumer caseload, delivering evidence-based peer support, and works collaboratively with the wider team to embed peer work and drive continuous improvement across the mental health peer workforce.

This is a full-time opportunity; full time positions have the option to enjoy the Rostered Day Off each month.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with:

* Min. 2 years experience as a Peer Worker.
* Tertiary qualifications in Peer Work (Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or other approved Peer Work qualification).
* Demonstrated lived experience of mental health challenges and personal wellbeing strategies.
* Understanding of mental illness and recovery, including impacts on families and carers.
* Strong knowledge of peer work practice and safe, purposeful use of lived experience.
* Clear understanding of professional boundaries, ethics, and policies.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with ability to collaborate across teams.
* Experience providing peer-to-peer support and/or peer supervision.
* Willingness to travel as required.
