Environmental Sustainability Specialist
This role plays a pivotal part in driving environmental stewardship and sustainable practices within our organization.
The Environmental Sustainability Specialist will serve as an in-house technical expert, responsible for implementing environmental processes and specifications on projects. This includes managing engagement and relationships with relevant external authorities, ensuring seamless compliance with state and commonwealth heritage related legislation.
Key to this role is the ability to provide high-level technical advice on the management of environmental values, while also undertaking environmental assessments and preparing reports as required.
* To undertake the roles and responsibilities of an Environmental Sustainability Specialist as part of a dedicated Environment and Cultural Heritage Team.
* To ensure environmental issues and aspects are effectively managed for the delivery of various projects.
* To apply state and commonwealth heritage related legislation and provide pragmatic solutions to ensure appropriate management of environmental issues.
For success in this position, we seek an individual with a university degree in environmental science or a related field, along with 2-5 years of experience in ecological or environmental projects. Being a Suitably Qualified Person for conducting Protected Flora Surveys and fauna surveys is advantageous, as is having qualifications and competence in Queensland BioCondition.
We value strong verbal and written communication skills, advanced Microsoft Office skills, and understanding of GIS software including QGIS and ArcGIS. The ideal candidate should be physically fit, able to work outdoors in various conditions, and willing to travel and work away from home for extended periods.
