Here at The Kids Research Institute Australia, we believe that effective research quality, governance, and integrity promote a positive research culture and sustainable practices that facilitate the conduct of high-quality research. The Research Governance team is responsible for ensuring all research is properly governed and conducted in accordance with The Kids Research Governance Framework, which encapsulates ethical principles, codes for the responsible conduct of research, relevant legislation, regulations, and Institute policy.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Human Research Governance and Integrity to provide support, effective management, and strategic direction for the delivery of good research governance and integrity. This role ensures institutional oversight of human research governance activities, including Sponsor and Site responsibilities, and duties in managing research integrity investigations. Reporting to the Head, Research Services, you will deliver research governance practices and frameworks to ensure scientific quality, governance, ethics compliance, and safety of research conducted under the Institute's auspices. The role will also involve participation on the Research Governance Committee and the Research Integrity Investigation Team.
Some of your duties will include but are not limited to:
1. In collaboration with Platform Managers, the Animal Research Governance and Welfare Manager, and stakeholders, contribute to the development and review of a Research Governance Quality Framework.
2. Ensure a Quality Management System (policies and procedures) that underpin the Research Governance Framework is implemented.
3. Work with the Research Integrity Investigation Team to promote compliance with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
4. Implement systems for process efficiency improvements, including online forms, workflows, and reporting.
5. Establish resources, information guides, fact sheets, and educational materials, maximizing the use of appropriate technologies.
6. Lead the delivery of systems and workflows to optimize research governance processes.
This role is conveniently based in the new Perth Children's Hospital and will be offered on a full-time basis for 12 months as parental leave cover.
About you
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and understanding of human research governance, ethics, and research integrity, ideally in medical research, and possess a demonstrated ability to build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team.
Your success will also depend on your demonstrated experience in:
- Managing governance frameworks and policy development (e.g., risk, policy, and compliance).
- Outstanding written communication, negotiation, and research skills, including data analysis and reporting.
- Highly developed project planning, coordination, management, and training skills.
- The ability to translate complex theoretical frameworks into evidence-based practice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with flexibility and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.
