The Opportunity
We're working with a prominent Canberra‐born and bred consultancy firm that helps business owners achieve sustainable, long‐term growth. They partner with clients as if the outcomes were their own, drawing on methods tried and tested while running successful businesses. Their approach blends broad technical experience with clear methodologies and lifecycle thinking. They adapt big‐business processes for the broader market across health, construction, and government consulting. Typical clients range from $1m to $200m in revenue.
Work side‐by‐side with a CA‐qualified director and become the trusted right hand on analysis, reporting, and client engagement and delivery. You'll turn numbers into clear insights and practical advice, build commercial judgement across varied sectors, and see the direct impact of your work with business owners. This is a high‐potential role designed for someone who wants to bridge accounting and advisory, grow fast, and take on more ownership over time.
The Role
As the director's right hand, you will support him on a day‐to‐day basis with end‐to‐end engagements in the following tasks:
* Review historical performance and extract clear insights and recommendations.
* Read and interpret the balance sheet and P&L.
* Identify trends, risks, and opportunities; help draft practical proposals and action plans.
* Engage with clients: gather information, test assumptions, and present findings.
The Ideal Person
You will be degree‐qualified in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance and early in your career, with 6 months to 4 years' experience in a finance, audit, or financial analysis role. You're looking to take the next step in a role that provides challenges, real responsibility, and a diversity of work and clients. You're likely coming from a fast‐paced, high‐performing SME or public practice. You're curious, adaptable, and commercially minded. You take initiative, meet deadlines, and follow through. Your communication skills are exceptional; you're comfortable interacting with clients and colleagues.
Salary / Rate
* $70k – $110k + Super
