General Surgery Fellow Role
This role is an exciting opportunity for a General Surgery Fellow to contribute to the provision, development, and maintenance of an effective, efficient, and equitable clinical service to hospital clients under the supervision of consultant surgeons in the unit.
Job Description:
* The General Surgery Fellow will be responsible for the daily care of acute surgical patients and emergency operating theatre operations.
* The Fellow will participate in a 24-hour on-call (weekday and weekend) roster as the first point of contact, supported by a rostered-on call consultant, to facilitate transition into independent specialist practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Excellent communication skills are essential when interacting with patients, relatives, general public, and healthcare colleagues.
* Compliance with contemporary human resource management practices, including workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination policies is mandatory.
* Sound theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical behavior required of a medical practitioner in General Surgery are expected.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Vaccination against certain vaccine-preventable diseases as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 is required.
* A Fellowship in General Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) or recognized equivalent as determined by RACS is necessary.
* An MBBS or equivalent qualification registrable with the Medical Board of Australia is required.
