About the Opportunity
ALS Hydrographics is Australia's largest hydrographics team, continually growing and focusing on design, build, and configuration of environmental monitoring systems. The role offers extensive training, mentoring, and potential international travel.
What the Role Involves
Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, manufacturing, and testing automated monitoring systems; wiring, soldering, and assembling terminals and 12 V control panels; producing and maintaining technical documentation; providing technical support to field staff, project teams, and clients; carrying out general technical and administrative duties; project management and procurement; and overseas travel for field installation of monitoring stations (where required).
What We're Looking For
We welcome candidates at trainee to intermediate experience levels. Key qualifications and attributes include:
* Minimum Year 12 secondary education, with strengths in Science, English, and/or Mathematics.
* Competent computer skills with a practical and technical mindset.
* Strong work ethic, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to use hand and power tools to fabricate and fit out instrument panels.
* Interest in telemetry communications—satellite, 4G, or IoT technologies.
* Interest or experience in datalogger coding/programming (e.g., CRBasic).
* Experience using AutoCAD.
* Background in a similar workplace or industry.
* Relevant trade and/or tertiary qualification.
Eligibility
To be eligible to work at ALS you must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa.
