The Role
Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS) seeks an experienced and dedicated Firsts Girls Hockey Coach to develop players to reach their highest potential. PEGS is a member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria and the Associated Private Schools competition for girls.
PEGS seeks expressions of interest from suitably experienced individuals who can set a positive agenda, motivate players and develop their fitness, skills and knowledge of the game, manage team selections, scouting and assist with team trips as needed.
The coach leads training twice a week, typically Mondays and Wednesdays after school and attends Saturday and weeknight games, which may vary. There is some variation in training sessions during pre-season. Some additional hours of work are required for selections, meetings and feedback sessions, scouting, specialist coaching clinics and trips.
This is a fixed term role from February to August with breaks during school holidays and estimated at approximately 140 hours of work for the season.
The successful applicant will have:
* An extensive level of knowledge and experience in playing and coaching Hockey
* The ability to motivate and develop players in a positive and supportive manner
* An interest in working with children and supporting child safety and wellbeing
* High level time management and communication skills
* A commitment to child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgrounds
* Level 2 First Aid, or a willingness to obtain it
* Own transport
* A valid Working With Children Check
