About the role
Coogee is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Major Projects team and play a key role in the delivery of significant capital projects across our chemical manufacturing and bulk liquid storage operations.
Reporting to the Manager, you will manage projects end‐to‐end, from early feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This role will suit a hands‐on project professional who thrives in complex, safety‐critical environments and is confident managing scope, cost, schedule, safety and quality while working closely with multidisciplinary internal teams, contractors and external consultants.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of assigned major projects in line with approved scope, cost, schedule, safety, quality, and governance requirements.
* Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, cost forecasts, change control, and risk registers.
* Manage contractors, consultants, and suppliers to achieve safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.
* Identify, assess, and manage technical, safety, environmental, schedule, and commercial risks across the project lifecycle.
* Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, Dangerous Goods regulations, process safety requirements, and company standards.
* Coordinate and review engineering designs, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure fitness for purpose.
* Provide technical leadership through feasibility, concept, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
* Prepare and present accurate project progress, cost, and risk reports to senior management.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of Major Projects systems and practices.
The successful candidate will have
* Degree qualified in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (Engineers Australia accredited); Chartered status or pathway preferred.
* Minimum 5 years' experience delivering engineering capital projects, ideally within chemical manufacturing or tank terminal environments.
* Strong project management capability, including cost control, scheduling, contractor management, and governance compliance.
* Sound understanding of WHS, Dangerous Goods, and process safety obligations.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
