The role We're seeking a talented Database Engineer to join this team and lead the optimization of our clients database infrastructure (cloud and on-prem) and drive optimisations and improvements. Database administration across Oracle stack preferred, as well as DB2 experience highly desirable. Permanent role. ResponsibilitiesDatabase Infrastructure Design and Management: Design, implement, and maintain both cloud and on-premise infrastructure database instances to support our evolving business needs. Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our database systemsOracle Stack Administration: Administer the Oracle stack, including Oracle Virtualization Manager (OVM), Oracle Real Application Clusters (ORL), Exadata, WebLogic, and Oracle databases. Optimize configurations and performance to maximize efficiency and stabilitySQL and IBM DB2 Database Administration: Manage SQL and IBM DB2 databases, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Implement best practices to ensure the security and integrity of our dataService Call and Incident Management: Address all allocated 2nd and 3rd Level Service Calls, System Incidents, Change Requests, and Work Orders delegated from the IT Service Desk and IT reporting Managers. Provide timely resolution of issues and proactive support to minimize downtime and disruptionsPerformance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor database performance metrics and proactively identify areas for improvement. Implement optimization strategies to enhance system performance, scalability, and resource utilization.Backup and Recovery Planning: Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery plans to protect critical data and ensure business continuity. Regularly test backup procedures to verify reliability and effectivenessSecurity and Compliance: Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks.Change Management: Manage changes to database systems, including software upgrades, patches, and configuration changes. Coordinate with stakeholders to minimize impact on operations and ensure successful implementationDocumentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
