DNV Australia is looking for a solar engineer to be part of our growing team in Australia based in Sydney or Melbourne.The successful candidate will be part of DNV’s Australian Project Engineering and Due Diligence team and be involved in the design, review and analysis of renewable energy projects. The role will involve working along with other specialists in Solar and other renewable energy technologies (such as wind and storage) to provide technical consulting services throughout the development, financing, procurement and construction phases of solar farm projects.Main accountabilities of this role will be to work as part of DNV’s Solar Project Engineering and Due Diligence team to deliver solar related services supporting the provision of technical advice to clients including:Technical due diligence of pre-construction and operational solar projects.Specification assistance for all aspects of solar farm construction.Owners, Lenders and Independent Engineer scopes of work.Inspection services for solar projects.Design support and feasibility studies for solar projects.Assist clients with procurement including contract negotiation and tendering.Other ad-hoc adviceThe work will involve:Liaising with a wide range of clients from solar farm developers to financial institutions.Completion of performance reviews and evaluation of solar farm installations.Work on multiple projects, managing own time to meet deadlines.Producing written reports and other documentation for delivery to the client.Supporting the continuous improvement and development of group procedures.Any other appropriate duties as directed by line management.This role may also provide opportunities to work on other renewable technologies and will contribute to the promotion of DNV’s solar services in Australia and the broader APAC region.Position QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:Bachelor of Engineering or Science degree in solar or renewable energy or other relevant discipline (i.e. mechanical, civil, electrical engineering with relevant professional experience).5 years professional experience.The right to live and work in Australia (Visa, Permanent Residency, Citizenship).Knowledge, skills and experience required for the position are:Experience in the solar industry and renewables.Good organisation and time management skills.Adaptability, and able to cope with a wide variety of tasks.Ability to produce clear written reports and communicate verbally in English.Experience using MS Office suite packages.Previous experience in any/all of the following will be considered favourably:Technical due diligence of solar farms for project financing.Solar plant design and layouts (ideally using PVCase or similar).Solar resource and energy assessments (including use of PV Syst).Physical abilities:Normal office environment, regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching.Some domestic and international travel to other company office locations, site locations, client offices and conferences.Occasional work outdoors including site visits, traveling by car and walking on uneven terrain.The role will involve on the job training as well as other training internally or externally. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
