**Job description**:
This Federal Government department is seeking an
**APS6 Secretariat Officer** to join the team. This will be a 12 month on-ongoing position with the possibility to move to permanent.
**Service Delivery Division** is responsible for providing older people with quality information and supporting seamless access to aged care services. We work collaboratively across the Ageing & Aged Care Group and Department to ensure:
- The My Aged Care website, contact centre, and face-to-face workforce are providing senior Australians with contemporary, easy to understand information about the aged care system and the services that are available to them.
- There is stronger integration between the health care and aged care systems so that older people can transition between settings more easily and get the right care at the right time.
- We have a robust intelligence and networking capability to support policy development, program design and delivery, including programs and policies that impact the outcomes for older people.
- There is appropriate support for the aged care sector to respond to COVID-19 and other emergency situations.
- Our presence across the country increasingly allows for a localised, regional approach to health and aged care system regulation and management.
**Branch Responsibilities**:
The Consumer Engagement Branch has a variety of very important work to do that includes programs focussing on supporting older people through volunteering and provision of advocacy services, and ensuring access to health services where and when they need it most. We are working with the state and territory governments to implement recommendations from the
_Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety_ that will improve the interface between health and aged care. We are also managing our first aged care schedule with Primary Health Networks (PHN) which seeks to assist Residential Aged Care Homes support residents with access to health services when needed.
The Health Systems Interface Section is responsible for leading the aged care / health interface program of work across the group and department more broadly. The establishment of the section is a direct response to the
_Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety_, and a key role of the section is to lead strategic policy related to health aged care interface recommendations of the Royal Commission.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- provide secretariat support to meetings and working groups, including organising events and meetings, preparing agendas and agenda papers, and recording outcomes and actions
- work with lead policy teams to provide advice on a range of issues, including through the preparation of issues papers, briefings, and parliamentary documents such as ministerial requests and correspondence, and submissions
- undertake planning activities including environmental scans through existing channels to identify upcoming changes and preparing transition plans
- establish and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to support the work of the section
- provide representation at both internal and external forums
- other duties as required and demonstrating capability in line with the department's Capability Development Framework at the APS6 level
- promoting workplace practices consistent with departmental policy and in accordance with the APS Values, Code of Conduct and Behaviours in Action.
**Key Capabilities**:
A high level of corporate knowledge and the capacity to foster productive relationships between different areas of the department and with external stakeholders is essential for this role.
