Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Lead mechanical design initiatives with major clients across Australia. Provide support to the IPS team, clients and represented companies in mechanical / technical design and reverse engineering.
Key Responsibilities
* Laser scanning, probing & post processing of data for reverse engineering & fault finding of machinery components.
* Use of SolidWorks to develop designs/models & manufacturing drawings of machinery components, rotor preservation and storage containers, support frames for turbomachinery, transport frames, installation skids (to API standards) and other supporting structures.
* Specifying geometric & dimensional tolerances as per AS1100 requirements for manufacturing & refurbishment of machinery components.
* Understanding DIN, ISO, JIS and other common international standards and homologate to AS1100.
* Investigate and identify requirements for new designs and applicable standards and regulations.
* Design special tooling required by technicians for major overhauls.
* Complete FEA studies using SolidWorks.
* Perform engineering calculations: stud tension & stress, compressive stress, radial deflection, hoop stress, stress concentration factor.
* Liaise with multiple manufacturing contractors with technical specification sheets and drawings to obtain tenders.
* Develop technical specification sheets for manufacturing of components by suppliers.
* Develop internal quality documentation (ITP, IRS, Work Procedures) for service activities in conjunction with Workshop Manager & Field Service Manager (ITP: Inspection and Test Plan, IRS: Inspection and record sheet).
* Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to achieve safety standards and deliver results.
Qualifications & Experience
* Good engineering knowledge in rotating equipment (steam turbines, axial/radial compressors, pumps, etc.).
* Expert knowledge & experience in design and reverse engineering processes.
* Succession plan to head the Engineering Department.
Education
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
* Training in SolidWorks or other CAD software.
* In‐house and overseas product training can be arranged on products such as turbines, compressors, and pumps.
Specialised Knowledge & Skills
* Understanding of quality and safety management systems.
* Proficiency in FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software.
* Strong communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with stakeholders.
