About The Role
We're looking for a commercially driven Senior Category Manager to lead category strategy and execution across IPA's external merchandising partnership with API.
This is a high‐impact role where you will own end‐to‐end category performance - balancing strategy, supplier partnerships, pricing, promotions and execution across a national retail network. You'll operate at the intersection of strategy and delivery, working closely with API, suppliers, and internal teams to drive growth, improve margins, and enhance the customer and member experience.
What You'll Be Doing
Category Strategy & Growth
* Lead and deliver category strategies that drive sales, margin and market share growth
* Own and execute category range reviews across multiple pharmacy banners
* Define product assortment, pricing and promotional strategies aligned to market and customer needs
* Use data and insights to continuously optimise performance
Supplier & Commercial Management
* Manage a portfolio of 70+ supplier accounts
* Lead joint business planning, negotiations and trading terms
* Deliver supplier income through innovative commercial and promotional initiatives
* Identify and execute incremental revenue opportunities
Promotions & Execution
* Own catalogue planning and promotional delivery
* Coordinate supplier submissions, pricing and product placement
* Partner with API to ensure effective execution in‐store through planograms and campaigns
Stakeholder Leadership
* Partner with API leadership to align strategy and execution
* Present category performance and insights to senior stakeholders
* Lead internal alignment across marketing, finance, and field teams
* Mentor and develop junior team members
What Success Looks Like
* Strong category growth vs market and prior year
* Delivery of supplier income and commercial targets
* Successful execution of range reviews and promotional programs
* High stakeholder engagement across API and supplier partners
About You
* 5‐8+ years' experience in Category Management, Retail or FMCG
* Strong commercial acumen with proven experience driving revenue and margin outcomes
* Advanced negotiation and supplier management skills
* Highly analytical with a data‐driven approach to decision making
* Ability to operate in a fast‐paced, complex stakeholder environment
* Confident communicator with experience influencing senior stakeholders
