Primary objective
Deliver high-quality print and digital graphic design, cartographic and desktop publishing services in support of NTGS
business objectives to disseminate information, geoscientific publications, data packages and maps.
Context statement
NTGS is the custodian of knowledge and data on the Territory's geology and resources, and undertakes activities to support
and grow the resources exploration industry. This role assists in the publication of high quality geoscientific publications and
promotional material, including large format posters and maps.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Under limited supervision prepare geoscientific maps and figures to publication standard for inclusion in NTGS products.
2. Edit and format cartographic and spatial information using desktop publishing and mapping software.
3. Undertake quality control processes to ensure accuracy of information being provided to industry.
4. Under limited supervision prepare promotional, display and presentation material of a geoscientific or technical nature.
5. Assist with the formatting and desktop editing of geoscientific reports to print-ready status.
6. Keep up to date with industry standards with regards to spatial technologies, online publication and desktop publishing
software.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience with graphic design, illustration, image editing and spatial software such as Adobe Illustrator,
ArcGIS, QGIS or equivalent
2. Demonstrated experience in provision of cartographic and graphic design services, layout and preparation of technical
reports, publications and presentation material
3. Proven strong attention to detail, and its application to monitor standards and achieving quality results.
4. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Geographic Information Systems and digital publishing for online
delivery.
5. Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills and demonstrated client focus.
6. Proven ability to plan, program and coordinate work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
7. Demonstrated initiative and enthusiastic attitude with good team participation and motivation skills.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualification in cartography or graphic design
