About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Fitter to join our team in Ormeau QLD, handling both routine services and urgent breakdowns to ensure our clients stay on the road. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on diverse and engaging work while contributing to a passionate, hard-working team environment. During quieter periods in the service department, you'll support the production team in the workshop, applying your mechanical expertise to assist with various tasks. Key Responsibilities:
Perform repairs and servicing on truck bodies, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out preventative maintenance.
When not working on service tasks, assist the production team with assembly and fabrication work.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Deliver high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy vehicles.
Replace or repair faulty parts, using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and time spent.
Skills and Experience
Qualified fitter, mechanic, or relevant trade background.
Experience with truck bodies, hydraulics, or mechanical repairs (preferred but not essential).
Willingness to jump into the production workshop when needed.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to safe work practices.
HR Truck licence
Forklift license an advantage but not essential.
