The Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions is a key leadership position within the ODPP and contributes to setting the strategic direction of the office and is required to prosecute serious criminal matters in the superior courts. The Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions is a key leadership position within the ODPP with the following responsibilities:• Appear as leading counsel in complex superior court criminal trials and in appeals in the Court of Appeal and High Court of Australia including those of great significance to the community and to the development of criminal law.• Be an active member of the ODPP leadership team and in setting strategic and operational direction of the Office.• Provide high level advice to the Director of Public Prosecutions on legal and policy matters affecting the ODPP.• Represent the Director of Public Prosecutions as required on boards, committees and forums.• Engage with key stakeholders and promote cooperation and communication among the various elements of the criminal justice system.• Contribute to and influence the design and delivery of prosecution services within Queensland. especially in light of changes to the criminal justice system.• Provide professional leadership, development and mentoring to Crown Prosecutors at all levels, through the provision of legal advice and coaching.• Promote a performance focus to continuously improve the professional capability of staff.Applications will remain current for a period of 12 months.
