About The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Community Safety, this fixed‐term opportunity will see you responsible for delivering CFA's statutory responsibilities within the built and natural environment, with a focus on bushfire risk mitigation.
Your days will involve assessing and advising on the defensibility of individual properties, supporting the development of bushfire survival plans and providing expert guidance to property owners, CFA personnel, builders and other stakeholders.
The role also coordinates bushfire risk mitigation programs, incorporating community‐based vegetation management and community education initiatives, conducts workshops, mentors and trains volunteers, and supports the processing and advice relating to statutory and planning applications and monitors CFA compliance with relevant legislation.
About You
We are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge and practical understanding of bushfire mitigation strategies in both the built and natural environment. The ideal candidate will have:
* Demonstrated knowledge of fire safety and bushfire dependability.
* High‐level expertise in the application of planning legislation and its relationship to bushfire, including the Victorian Planning Provisions, and an understanding of their relevance to CFA operations.
* Practical experience or a relevant tertiary qualification in a related field.
* A sound understanding of bushfire behaviour and its impact on structures and communities.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities effectively.
