Offer description

At Tarac, we're passionate about sustainability and innovation in the wine industry. We convert winemaking by-products into highly valued products and provide specialised services to customers across Australia and internationally.

Based in Nuriootpa, we're proud of our strong values, supportive culture, and commitment to keeping our people safe and well.

We're looking for an experienced Process & Projects Engineer to join our Engineering team at Tarac.

This is a technically focused, hands-on role responsible for leading process development and optimisation across our production operations, including distillation, spirit recovery, by-product processing, and wastewater treatment. You'll play a key role in improving plant performance, energy efficiency, and environmental outcomes, while supporting safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.

This position suits an engineer who enjoys being close to the plant, solving problems, and seeing projects through from concept to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

* Process engineering: Design, specify, and implement process systems, equipment, and control strategies for new or modified processes.
* Optimisation: Analyse existing operations to identify and deliver improvements in water, energy, and labour efficiency.
* Hands-on fault finding: Support operations with practical troubleshooting and root cause analysis to resolve process and equipment issues.
* Project delivery: Scope, develop, and manage engineering projects across multiple sites, including installation and commissioning, ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality targets.
* Operational excellence: Lead and support continuous improvement and reliability enhancement initiatives.
* Environmental compliance: Oversee wastewater systems and support compliance with environmental requirements.
* Technical leadership: Provide technical guidance, training, and ongoing support to operations and maintenance teams.
* Safety leadership: Promote and foster a strong safety culture aligned with company and regulatory requirements, including participation in investigations and reviews.

What you'll bring

* Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, or a related Engineering discipline.
* Minimum 10 years' experience in process or production engineering. Experience in distillation, beverage, or chemical manufacturing is highly regarded.
* Strong hands-on problem-solving and fault-finding capability in a production environment.
* Demonstrated experience delivering engineering projects, including equipment installation and commissioning.
* Strong analytical skills with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
* Experience with Aspen is beneficial.
* Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
* Current C Class driver's licence.
* Applicants must be a current Australian permanent resident to be considered for this role.

Why Tarac?

At Tarac, we value people who are respectful, resilient, motivated, and reliable. You'll work closely with experienced operators and engineers in a business that values technical expertise, collaboration, and practical problem-solving — all while contributing to sustainable outcomes in the wine industry.

If you enjoy being hands-on, working through complex process challenges, and making real improvements on the ground, we'd love to hear from you.
